SHERIFF JIMMY ASHE wrote a note to say “thank you” to the citizens of Jackson County for generous contributions to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office “Shop with a Cop” Program, which relies exlusively on local contributions. “We are so appreciative of your support of this worthy program,” Ashe wrote. “It truly is a profound blessing to us and anyone who witnesses this event at Christmas each year. There is no greater joy to my staff and me than to take these wonderful children shopping for Christmas presents.” Ashe said the program could not operate without the support of manager Pete Newbold and Wal-Mart. Not only does Wal-Mart contribute monetarily, the store also provides staff to assist the officers with shopping with the children. Wal-Mart also provides lunch to the children and officers. |
