An early-morning New Year’s altercation has left two victims wounded and one suspect facing numerous charges.
Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies Josh Yopp, Scott Holder and Andi Clayton responded to a call made at approximately 12:47 a.m. New Year’s morning concerning a fight at 524 Sunset Farms Rd., said Capt. Steve Lillard.
The officers found Brian Aaron Lambert of Cherokee with a cut on his neck at the scene. Authorities believe he received the wound during the reported altercation.
Emmanuel A. Cody, 17, of Bryson City, also sustained a laceration to his arm during the fight. Lillard said Cody was not found at the scene because he was driven in a personal car to Swain County Hospital.
Deputies arrested William Jarett Wilnoty, 24, of Cherokee in connection with the crime. He has been charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and first-degree trespassing.
Wilnoty was released on $51,000 bond.
