Angels sing in interfaith drama
 |
Members of the Angel Chorus (top photo), from left, Elizabeth Vickery, Kendall Wike, Rebecca Fox, Ally Vickery and Megan Nicholson sing during this year’s interfaith drama, “Mary Did You Know,” which was staged Dec. 9 and 10 at Cullowhee Baptist Church. Now in its eighth year, the Trail of Light interfaith drama team production featured a 50-member cast and crew derived from area congregations. “Mary Did You Know,” the story of Jesus from birth until maturity brought “a time of peace and refection as to what the Christmas season is all about,” according to some audience members. The Angel Chorus also included Emma and Abigail Fox, Erin Nicholson, and Rebecca Craig, and musical direction was by Pam Dengler. The Rev. Jack Hinson narrated and Maribeth Ayers directed the play that was written to show portions of the birth and life of Jesus. In the bottom photo, Dylan Coward and Mary-Kira Wilson portray Joseph and Mary. Congregations involved included Sylva First Baptist, Sylva First Methodist, Sylva Presbyterian, St. Mary’s Catholic, Scotts Creek Baptist, East Sylva Baptist, Love’s Chapel Methodist, St. David’s Episcopal, Cullowhee Methodist, Cullowhee Baptist, Mount Zion Missionary Baptist (Bryson City) and Waynesville Seventh-day Adventist.
