Sheriff establishes fund for victims of shooting

By Justin Goble

After public outpouring of support for the shooting victims of last Tuesday’s (Nov. 16) robbery at Cullowhee’s China Dragon restaurant, the sheriff has established a fund to help with their medical costs.

The Lin Family Benefit Fund has been set up at the Macon Bank, according to Jackson County Sheriff Jimmy Ashe.

“I felt an obligation to orchestrate a benefit for the Lin family,” Ashe said Monday.

In addition, ServiceMaster donated its time to provide a complete cleaning of the restaurant, Ashe said.

Donations can be made by check, cash, charge or bank transfer. Those wishing to make donations may visit the bank or call 631-9700. Donors can also contribute online at the bank’s Web site at www.maconbank.com or mail contributions to the bank at 498 E. Main St., Sylva NC 28779.
