QUALLA HOUSING AUTHORITY

Request for Proposals

General Notice

Qualla Housing Authority (QHA), the housing agency of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, a federally recognized Indian Tribe, is requesting written proposals from Qualified Contractors who, acting as Independent Contractors, will provide all labor, material, and equipment necessary for a turn key type construction of a single family residential house or houses to be constructed on individual scattered sites, subject from one to twenty each consisting of three and four bedroom single family dwellings, may also be subject to labor only situations.

The homes under this RFP are located in Jackson, Swain, Graham and Cherokee counties, on the Cherokee Indian Reservation, North Carolina and to be identified by Qualla Housing Authority.

Proposals must be received on or before 2:00 p.m., December 2, 2005 at the QHA Warehouse located on 2234 Old Mission Road, Cherokee, North Carolina 28719.

A mandatory pre bid conference will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at 2:00 pm in the conference room of the Qualla Housing Authority, located on 687 Acquoni Road, Cherokee NC. Note: Non attendance will disqualify participation.

When referring to this RFP and the work described herein, identify it as:

Turn Key Housing Program

Packets and information will be available beginning Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at 8:30 AM at the QHA Construction Warehouse located on 2234 Old Mission Road, Hours - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday until November 22, 2005.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

This is to inform the public of the opportunity to attend a public hearing on the proposed Community Transportation Application to be submitted to the North Carolina Department of Transportation not later than December 16, 2005. Those interested in attending a public hearing on this application should contact Chuck Norris, Jackson County Transit Director, on or before December 5, 2005. The public hearing willbe held on December 5, 2005 at 5:45 p.m. before the Jackson County Board of Commissioners at the Jackson County Justice Center located at 401 Grindstaff Cove Road, Sylva, NC 28779.

The Community Transportation Program provides assistance to coordinate existing transportation programs operating in Jackson County as well as to provide transportation options and services for the communities within this service area. These services are currently provided using demand response, deviated fixed routees, and trip referrals. Services are rendered by utilizing vans, volunteers, andlocal taxi operators.

The total estimated amount requested for the period July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007.
