Dillsboro hosts pottery festival See photo gallery here
Joe Frank McKee adds the finishing touches to a pot he’s just removed from the kiln during Saturday’s (Nov. 5) inaugural Western North Carolina Pottery Festival in Dillsboro. The event, which included some 25 potters, featured demonstrations of throwing, glazing and firing, and drew steady crowds all day, said Dillsboro’s Brant Barnes, who organized the festival along with McKee. “We’re really pleased with the outcome, and we’re already making plans for next year,” Barnes said Monday. “All the potters reported phenomenal sales, and everybody in the community helped make our first festival a success. A lot of people came together to make it work, and everybody involved is still smiling.” For more photos, see page 12A. – Herald photo by Nick Breedlove |
