Newspaper announces Christmas photo contest
By Lynn Hotaling
Get out your cameras and scrapbooks – the next Sylva Herald photo contest is all about children and Christmas.
“A Child’s Christmas,” the newspaper’s inaugural Christmas photo contest, is open to anyone with a connection to Jackson County and photographs from any year. Submitted pictures can be of any size, and may be either black-and-white or color, and they can be either film or digital.
Photos entered in the holiday contest will not be displayed, but all winners and as many other entries as possible will be published in The Herald or in the newspaper’s Christmas special section.
To enter, stop by The Herald office for an entry form or use the one below. Those entering photos will be asked to provide information including a description of when and where the photo was taken, the identity and age of the child (children) in the picture, and the photographer’s name and address. Photos can be of individuals or groups but must have a Christmas theme and children should be under 12.
For those with only one copy of a treasured family photo, Herald Photo Director Nick Breedlove will scan photos at the newspaper’s Main Street office every Thursday through Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. until noon.
Deadline for entries is Thursday, Dec. 8.
For more information, call Nick Breedlove at 586-2611, ext. 310 or by e-mail at nick @thesylvaherald.com.
