Historic chair
Sylva First Baptist Interim Pastor John Bunn, right, presented the church’s Oct. 23 guest speaker Tony Cartledge, editor of the state Baptist news journal the Biblical Recorder, a rocking chair that was formerly owned by Sen. Josiah Bailey, who served as editor of the Recorder at the turn of the 20th century. Bunn and his wife, Lois, acquired the chair many years ago through one of her cousins, who married Bailey’s son. – Herald photo by Derek Hodges |
