Not much has changed in the 40 years since the Sylva Post Office was being built in 1965 (top photo). Plans are currently under way to construct a new post office in Sylva, with three sites – two at Jackson Plaza and one off N.C. 107 at Hensley Circle – under consideration. An announcement of the new post office site is expected within the next month. Visible at left in the top photo is the roof of the old Sylva Baptist Church, which moved to Main Street that same year. – Herald file photo (top) and Herald photo by Nick Breedlove
