SM volleyball season concludes with loss
Smoky Mountain ended its volleyball season 5-17 overall and 2-8 (fifth) in the Western Athletic Conference as Pisgah took a 25-21, 25-16, 25-16 win last Thursday at Canton.
The Sugar Bears scored the first six points of game one and held the lead throughout.
SM led early in game two, but Pisgah took charge at 20-13 after eight straight points.
The outcome of game three was never in doubt after the Sugar Bears went up 25-16.
Sarah Haggard dished out 18 assists for the Lady Mustangs. Brittany Gilbert came up with 11 digs, and Jennifer Webb put down eight kills.
Colleen Davis had seven service points and served 92.3 percent. Amy Haggard and Kelli Woodard were perfect in five and four assists, respectively. LeNay Shular finished at 90.9 percent, and Gilbert served 90 percent. Team serving was 87 percent.
The Lady Mustang JVs ended their season with a 25-15, 25-23 loss to fall to 2-20.
“I would have liked to have ended the season with a win, but I was proud of the individual improvement of every one of my players,” Coach Natasha Wilson said.
