Drugs, cash seized in Cashiers

 Local law enforcement personnel seized drugs and cash Oct. 20 from a residence on Zeb Alley Road in Cashiers.
According to Capt. Steve Lillard of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the money and controlled substances were found when Lt. Clyde Rice and Detectives Patrick McCoy and Rick Buchanan served a search warrant on the home of Jeremy Scott Kinsey, 33.
The officers discovered 24 grams of methamphetamine and other controlled substances, including prescription drugs and marijuana, Lillard said. In addition to the drugs, the deputies seized about $12,000 in cash, he said.
Kinsey was arrested and is being held in the Jackson County jail in lieu of a $200,000 bond.

Based on the results of the search, Kinsey has been charged with three counts of possession of weapons of mass destruction (altered firearms); one count possession of meth; three counts possession of Schedule II controlled substance (prescription drugs); one count possession with intent to sell/deliver meth; one count maintaining a dwelling for the use of controlled substances; one count possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana; and one count possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation came about after officers received information that alerted them to suspicious activity at the Kinsey residence, Lillard said.
