SM runners compete at North Henderson
Smoky Mountain’s men were 10th among 14 teams while the women were eighth out of nine squads in a cross country meet last Thursday at North Henderson.
Bryan McManus led the Mustang men as he was 25th among 126 runners in 21:15. Completing SM’s top five were:
Anthony Stephens, 41st, 22:24; Trey Franks, 56th, 23:11; Hunter Thomas, 67th, 24:05; and Grayson Cooper, 80th, 25:17.
Standout runner Travis Brotherton missed the meet as he was competing in an invitational at Florida State.
The Lady Mustangs were led by Molly Collins, who was 34th out of 97 runners, in 25:40. Rounding out SM’s top five were:
Cadence Railsback, 44th, 26:59; Courtney Spaulding, 47th, 27:29; Katie Hayes, 58th, 28:25; and Emily Butcher, 70th, 30:14.
“It was a really good meet,” Coach Lawson Hopper said. “The kids enjoyed it and ran hard. A lot of them improved their times. They were really excited about it.”
