Allen Street repairs
Work continues to repair problems caused by last year’s hurricanes on Allen Street. What looks to be a cave-in on part of the street is actually a needed part of the repairs according to zoning administrator Jim Aust. “This is part of hurricane mitigation,” Aust said. “We received a grant to stop mud slides in the area. When we dug out the bank to put up the new wall, it started sliding. So we took out part of the road to stop it.” Work on this part of the Allen Street project started last Friday (Sept. 16), and Aust estimated that it would take three months at the longest. – Herald photo by Justin Goble |
