Willard Ashe
Willard M. Ashe, 76, of Franklin, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Vic Greene officiating.
A native of Murphy, he was a member of First Assembly of God in Franklin. He was a son of the late Wade Ashe and Abbey Dockery Ashe.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ellis Ashe.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Younghans of Jacksonville and Debbie Reed of Sevierville, Tenn.; one brother, Bill Ashe of Virginia; four sisters, Mary Lou Dillard, Ellen Gates and Nettie Ashe, all of Jackson County, and Rosie May Hayes of Murphy; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Peggy Hall
Margaret “Peggy” Hall, 93, of Chicago, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, in the chapel of Melton-Riddle Funeral Home with the Rev. Clifford Parker and Father James P. Cahill officiating. Burial was in Old Savannah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Hall, Bill Hall, Issac Hall, Chris Moore, Bryan Hall and Jim Barnes.
She was born in Germany and lived in Chicago for the last 63 years. She enjoyed reading and camping in Western North Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Peter and Margaret Heffner.
Surviving is her husband of 63 years, Scroop Jesse Hall; and one brother, John Heffner of Chicago.

Chloe Little
Chloe Doby Little of Evans, Ga., died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, in the chapel of Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Chaplain Frankie May officiating. Burial was in Jasper City Cemetery in Jasper, Ga.
She was a native of Pell City, Ala., and was a professor of physical therapy at Medical College of Georgia and Western Carolina University. She received degrees from both Emory University and Duke University and graduated with a doctoral degree from the University of Georgia in 1995. She practiced physical therapy in Gainesville, Ga., Saudi Arabia and at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Ga. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Howard Little; three daughters, Catherine Finnegan of Athens, Ga., Jennifer Chivers of Milledgeville and Elisabeth Little of Gainesville; one son, Jeff Little of Gainesville; one brother, Joe Doby of Augusta, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Otelia Brown
Otelia Brown, 89, of the Sols Creek community, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at Harris Regional Hospital after a period of declining health.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Sols Creek Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with the Revs. Carl Adams, Dennis Burrell and Michael Queen officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Shane Burch, Mathew Orr, Brandon Owle, Billy Gunter, Dade Sims and Harley McCall.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County and a daughter of the late Dock and Victoria Melton Burrell.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Candler Brown, who died in 1977; two sons who died in infancy; and four brothers, Rodgin, General, Alvin and Sims.
Surviving are one daughter, Geraldine Brown, of the home; one son, Myrl Brown of Whittier; one sister, Ermalee McCall of Tuckasegee; two grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the Sols Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Melton-Riddle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Charlotte Mason
Charlotte Hornbuckle Mason, 85, of Painttown Road, Cherokee, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at Harris Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Yellowhill Baptist Church with Red Bradley and James “Bo” Parris officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.
A native and lifelong resident of Swain County, she enjoyed caring for animals. She was a daughter of the late Arnold Cooper and Alice Hornbuckle.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Hornbuckle.
Surviving is one son, Taylor Bridges of Cherokee.
Melton-Riddle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
