Lowe’s asks Sylva for help with TWSA impact fees - Lowe’s developers have asked Sylva officials for help with impact fees for the store they plan to construct near the intersection of N.C. 107 and N.C. 116. Jackson Transit to offer new bus route - Have you ever wanted to get from Wal-Mart to downtown Sylva without having to fight N.C. 107 traffic? Starting Monday, July 25, you will be able to, thanks to Jackson Transit. The county-operated transportation service has initiated a new route to take travelers from Sylva, Dillsboro and Webster to various area businesses and Harris Regional Hospital. The 70-minute circular route will begin in Dillsboro at Riverpark Apartments, follow Yellowbird....


070705connert02Courthouse vandal pleads guilty in Sylva - The vandal who destroyed most of the concrete planters that adorned the Courthouse steps has pleaded guilty. Jeramie Ryan Conner, 25, of Roscommon, Mich., entered a plea July 12 in Jackson County District Court to injury to property in connection with the May 31 Courthouse incident and a broken basement window at Peeble’s on the same night. Judge Steve Bryant ordered Conner to make restitution in the amount of $1,000 to Jackson County and pay....
