THE HERALD introduces a new reporter this week. Recent Smoky Mountain High graduate Samantha Blanton, daughter of Cheryl and Carroll Blanton of Ochre Hill, has joined our staff. Samantha, who is interested in a journalism career, worked with former Herald Features Editor Rose Hooper last year on her senior project.
AND SPEAKING OF ROSE, she has agreed to provide coverage of Dillsboro town board meetings this summer. Our elected leaders’ proclivity for choosing the same meeting night has stretched our staff thin. On this past Monday, for example, meetings were scheduled by county commissioners, the towns of Forest Hills and Dillsboro and the Airport Authority. Thanks, Rose, for helping out.
