Relay raises funds, fun
Relay For Life walkers raised $72,000 by the time the sun came up this past Saturday. After several months of fund-raisers and a night circling the track at the Jackson County Recreation Park, more than 50 teams were successful in their attempt to support the American Cancer Society. “There is still money being turned in and still more fund-raisers planned, ” said Relay chairperson Debbie Bryson, adding that the final tally won’t be determined until teams wrap up their money-earning efforts in August. Above, a Sylva Police Department team – including, from left, Police Clerk Amanda Parker, Assistant Chief Tammy Hooper, Sylva Town Clerk Alison Lyons and Police Detective John Buchanan – cuts up while making a lap. |
