BUY A LUMINARY in honor or memory of someone who’s battled cancer. They’re $10 each and will line the track for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, set for the night of Friday, May 13, at Jackson County Recreation Park. “They’ll burn all night long,” said the ACS’s Josh Pierce. Luminaries are available through Relay team members and will also be sold the night of the event.
NATALIE ELDERS and her family of Whittier are featured in the May 17 issue of Family Circle. The feature article chronicles Natalie’s miraculous recovery after an automobile accident left her in a coma.
HANGING BASKETS, BEGONIAS and vegetables are currently on sale at the Smoky Mountain High School greenhouse by the school’s agriculture department. Stop by between 8 and 11 a.m. or 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through May 13. For information, call 586-5392.
RAFFLE TICKETS for a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix are still available for $10 each from any Relay For Life team or at Piney Mountain Motors. “BANK NIGHT” for Relay For Life will be tonight (Thursday) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at United Community Bank. Relay teams are reminded to drop by to turn in money raised and to pick up team T-shirts.
