By Carey Phillips

A Sylva man died late last Thursday night (April 28) from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Eddie Hodgins, 33, of  Webster Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck on S.R. 1360 (Mockingbird Lane), Sgt. Greg Christopher of the N.C. Highway Patrol said.

According to a report filed by Trooper Derek Robinson, Hodgins was traveling south on 1360 in a 1997 Geo around 11 p.m. when the vehicle crossed the center line, ran off the left shoulder and went down an embankment striking a tree.

Hodgins was wearing his seat belt, the report indicated.
