Ready to serve
Joined by members of his family, Jackson County’s new Commissioners’ Chairman Brian McMahan last Wednesday (March 23) raised his right hand and promised to faithfully execute his duties. “I am proud and honored that a great amount of trust and faith has been placed in me to serve in this capacity. In the days, weeks and months to come, there is a lot of business to be done – the people’s business. I am confident that we will accomplish what has been placed before us because of the dedication of those that labor so hard. I look forward to continuing our work together.” McMahan, second from right, was chosen March 22 to be the Democratic Party’s nominee to succeed Stacy Buchanan, who stepped down as chairmn on March 7. Superior Court Judge Ronald Payne, right, adminstered the oath during a special noon commissioners’ meeting.
