Several groups to host ‘Park Sparkle Day on March 19
The National Park Service, Trout Unlimited and Friends of the Smokies will co-host a “Park Sparkle Day” on Saturday, March 19. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. in the Oconaluftee Visitor Center parking lot to help clean up areas along the Oconaluftee River and Newfound Gap Road.
Volunteers should wear old clothes and sturdy shoes and bring gloves. After the clean up is over, Friends of the Smokies and the National Park Service will provide lunch for all volunteers.
In the event of heavy rain or snow, the cleanup will be cancelled.
The Oconaluftee Visitor Center is two miles north of Cherokee on Highway 441 (Newfound Gap Road).
