Rx for confusion?

031005roadwork
A left turn lane heading west and another through lane heading east are being added at the site of the new Eckerd Drug Store at the intersection of U.S. 23 Business and N.C. 107. The turn lane is for vehicles coming toward town to turn into Eckerd at Race Lane. The through lane will provide two lanes for traffic heading out of town on 107, according to Reuben Moore, division operations engineer for the N.C. Department of Transportation. The developer of the Eckerd site is paying for the work, Moore said. “If DOT ends up having to do anything to it, the developer is going to get a bill,” he said. The work is to be completed before Eckerd opens. The drug store is tentatively set to move from Sylva Plaza to its new location April 14, according to Keith Beck, assistant manager. “It’s already a congested area, and it’s still going to be a congested area,” Moore said. “I think the left turn lane is going to help, but if three or four cars back up it could be a problem.” – Herald photo by Derek Hodges
