Road work to close Main Street for 12 hours night of March 22-23

By Lynn Hotaling

Repair work will close downtown Sylva’s primary traffic artery for about 15 hours week after next.

N.C. Department of Transportation personnel will spend the night of Tuesday, March 22, through Wednesday, March 23, replacing a drainage culvert in front of The Sylva Herald, according to Edwin Austin of the DOT.

In order to complete the work, Main Street will have to be closed from 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, until about 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 23.

During the closure, traffic on Main Street will be detoured down Spring Street, across Mill Street to Allen Street, right on Municipal Drive and back to Main Street near the Sylva Fire Department, Austin said.
