020305cemetarytDowsing, modern technology used to search for graves - Alvin Frady said he saw a "dream come true" last Friday (Jan. 28) as high-tech equipment was brought in to locate graves at the old County Home cemetery. Frady, who said that he and his family members have been working on preserving the cemetery for nearly 30 years, was on hand when students from Western Carolina University arrived with modern tools....


Two found dead in Dodgen Ridge residence - Two people were found dead Saturday afternoon (Jan. 29) at a Dodgen Ridge residence. Robert Bryan Blanton, 36, of 204 Dodgen Ridge Road in Tuckasegee's Canada community and Tera Antoon Purvis, 22, of Waynesville were dead when officers arrived at the scene, said Jackson County Sheriff Jimmy Ashe. Blanton  owned the Dodgen Ridge residence, though he primarily lived in Waynesville, Ashe said.
