Two found dead in Dodgen Ridge residence

By Lynn Hotaling

Two people were found dead Saturday afternoon (Jan. 29) at a Dodgen Ridge residence.

Robert Bryan Blanton, 36, of 204 Dodgen Ridge Road in Tuckasegee's Canada community and Tera Antoon Purvis, 22, of Waynesville were dead when officers arrived at the scene, said Jackson County Sheriff Jimmy Ashe.

Blanton  owned the Dodgen Ridge residence, though he primarily lived in Waynesville, Ashe said.

According to Ashe, law enforcement personnel received a call around 2:15 p.m. from a person who said he had gone by to see his friends and found them unconscious and unresponsive.

No evidence of foul play was found after Sheriff's officers, assisted by personnel from the SBI and Western Carolina Pathology Services, conducted a thorough crime scene investigation, Ashe said.

"There was no indication of trauma," Ashe said. "Toxicology results may reveal the cause of death."

Autopsies were performed on both victims by the state medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill, Ashe said, but results are not expected for at least two weeks.
