JACKSON COUNTY is recruiting for the position of an Erosion Control Code Enforcement Officer. An employee in this class under limited supervision performs inspections and environmental control work in the County's Planning Department. Work involves reviewing erosion control plans, performing field inspections, investigating complaints and suspected violations, and enforcing codes and ordinances. The employee is also responsible for maintaining various data and records to compile reports as required by the County and the State. Work also involves some public contact in presenting educational programs to local contractors and civic groups. The employee must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgement in performing erosion control duties. The employee must also exercise tact, courtesy, and firmness in contact with violators and the general public. An Associate Degree in civil engineering or a related field is preferred, or experience in land surveying or other field that provides knowledge of soils and vegetation; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
