New sign at county line
Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Director Julie Spiro, left, and county leaders were on hand Wednesday (Dec. 1) for the unveiling of a new sign at the county line on U.S. 74 near Balsam Gap. The sign depicts the old county Courthouse as it will look after renovations now under way are completed, including the addition of "Jackson" before the words "County Court House" that are currently on the building. Others present to mark the sign's debut are, from left, Commissioners' Chairman Stacy Buchanan; Commissioners Joe Cowan, Roberta Crawford and Brian McMahan; county Manager Ken Westmoreland and county maintenance engineer Melvin Barnes, who installed the sign. – Herald photo by Derek Hodges
