Beauford Gibson
Beauford Gibson, 64, of South Piney Mountain Road, Whittier, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Mountain Trace Nursing Center after a period of declining health.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, in the chapel of Melton-Riddle Funeral Home with the Revs. Pat Farmer, Larry Nations and Charles Carnes officiating. Burial was in Barkers Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Bennett, Travis Gibson, Brandon Gibson, Randy Williamson, Dustin Williamson and Johnny King. Honorary pallbearers were David Dalton, Roy Dalton, Bobby Joe Revis and Jim Gibson.
A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, he worked at Drexel Furniture and was a member of Dicks Creek Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Dock and Rosie Elders Gibson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eddie Marie Bennett Gibson, who died in 2003; one son, Curtis Gibson; one sister, Cora Helen Williamson; and two brothers, Howard and Jesse Gibson.
Surviving are two daughters, Gail Broom of Tuckasegee and Glenda Brooks of Sylva; two sons, Scotty Gibson of Franklin and Tracy Gibson of Sylva; two foster sisters, Bonnie Gibson and Birdell Brown, both of Sylva; and three grandchildren.
Eva Frady
Eva Mathis Frady, 95, of North Fork Road, Sylva, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at Skyland Care Center, after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, in the chapel of Melton-Riddle Funeral Home, with the Revs. Johnny Norris, Cecil Frady and Lloyd Fish officiating. Burial was in Addie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gene Frady, Kyle Baldwin, Steve Bryson, Mark Huston, Scott Frady and Terry Sellers.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, a member of Buff Creek Baptist Church and was the last of eight children of D.A. and Belle Norman Mathis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Frady Sr., who died in 1971; a son, Buck Frady; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
Surviving are two daughters, Dixie Blanton of Sylva and Betty Dyer of Waynesville; two sons, Sidney Frady and Albert Frady Jr., both of Sylva; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Winnie Eisele
Winnie Johnson Eisele, 70, of Cherokee, died Friday, Nov. 26, at Tsali Care Center.
Graveside services and burial will be at a later date in the family cemetery.
She was a custom basket maker and wife of the late Richard Eisele. She was a daughter of the late Yona and Margaret Catolster Johnson.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Knott, and one sister, Lorine Smith.
Surviving are one son, Sammy Walkingstick of Avery County; and three grandchildren.

Raymond Shuler
Rev. Raymond T. Shuler, 82, of Old Settlement Road, Sylva, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Skyland Care Center after a period of declining health.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at New Hope Baptist Church, of which he was a charter member, with the Revs. Mike Moore and Clemmey Queen officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by William E. Dillard American Legion Post No. 104. Pallbearers were Joe Messer, Ronnie Bryson, Richard Frady, Steve Rice, Steven Buchanan, Arnold Brooks, Don Shular, L.G. Painter and Blaine Earley. Honorary pallbearers were Don Morrison, Earl Hooper, Walter Young, Pride Farmer, Harold Dean Buchanan and John W. Brooks Jr.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County. He was pastor of Speedwell Baptist Church and East Fork Baptist Church and was assistant pastor of New Hope Baptist Church. He retired from Western Carolina University's physical plant, and he had worked at Mead for several years until it closed. A highly decorated Army veteran, he served with the Fifth Army in Italy and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a son of the late George W. and Cora Pruitt Shuler.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Gene Shuler and a brother, Roy Shuler.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Hazel Parris Shuler; two sisters, Emma Earley of Waynesville and Hattie Melton of Flora City, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Mary Reed
Mary Ann Worley Reed, 71, of Worley Farm Road, Whittier, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home with Ray Kinsland officiating. Burial was in Worley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Ferguson, David Ferguson, Hoppy Ferguson, Harold Elders, Candler Ray Cooper and Tom Jaros.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County. She loved to garden and raise miniature horses. She was a daughter of the late Charles J. and Ethel Ashe Worley.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Eugene Reed; and one sister, Nora Williams of Plymouth.

Annas Jones, 67, of Monteith Branch Road, Sylva, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Harris Regional Hospital.

Ruth Wyont
Ruth Best Wyont, 93, of Gastonia, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Gaston County, and the daughter of the late George Luther and Etta Lineberger Best.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Wyont and five brothers.
Surviving are one son, David Russell Wyont of Dallas; one daughter, Louise Wyont Marshall of Cullowhee; two brothers, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Joyce Murphy
Joyce Ann Murphy, 48, of Sylva, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at the home of Lillie Ammons in Sylva with the Rev. Ernest Messer officiating.
She was born in Jackson County on October 15, 1956 to William Riley Cope and Shirley Lovell Acre. She enjoyed horses, painting and drawing.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandmother Lillie Ammons of Sylva; a daughter, Jeannie Jamison of Cullowhee; two sons, Jason Justice of Sylva and Jamie Justice of Frenwood, Ind.; and one granddaughter.

HarLee Harrison
HarLee Marie Christine Harrison, 18, of Cherokee, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Ellison Rudd will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hornbuckle Family Cemetery.
She attended East Elementary School in Swain County.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, John Harlon.
Surviving are her parents, Terri Harrison and Eugene Harlon; one brother, Owen "Randy" Pheasant; three sisters, Roshonda McCoy, Amy Crowe and Eugenia Harlon; and grandparents, Marie Harrison, David Liberman and Vivian Harlon.
