	Book fair to feature 50 regional authors - The Great Smoky Mountains Book Fair is coming to Sylva on Saturday, Nov. 20, and more than 50 authors from around the region will be in Sylva for the day-long gathering that will feature readings, autographings and other meet-the-author events. 	Roving stone - Alvin Frady, founder of the Jackson County Cemetery Society, is taking the cornerstone from the old County Home on a fund-raising tour. The stone, which was placed in 1924, will be available occasionally for citizens to view at Harold's Supermarket and at other locations including Wal-Mart during coming weeks. Those interested can make a donation to the society while viewing the stone. The society is seeking donations to help raise an estimated $5,000....

	TWSA to use grant funds on sewer lines - Sewer lines in Jackson County are about to get an overhaul the likes of which they've never seen, thanks to a $400,000 grant Tuckaseigee Water and Sewer Authority recently received from the N.C. Rural Economic Development Center. "This is the most this community has ever spent to rehabilitate its sewer lines," said TWSA director Hugh Montgomery. The grant dollars come from Clean Water Bonds state citizens passed in 1998....

	Local students to start school later next year - Though local school officials are less than pleased about it, Jackson County's students will get another three weeks of vacation this summer. That's because recent state legislation mandates that school districts cannot start classes before Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005. Local students returned to their studies on Aug. 2 this year. 	'Hands-on' art - Western Carolina University Nov. 4 gave patrons of the arts a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process that goes into the paintings, drawings, sculptures and other works that will soon be on display in the galleries of the university's massive Fine and Performing Arts Center.
