Lloyd Buchanan, top left, Jack Cowan, middle, and Ralph Baumgardner are three of the 18 World War II veterans who will receive high school diplomas during a special 7 p.m. graduation ceremony tonight (Thursday) at  Southwestern Community College. Buchanan and Baumgardner were added to the list after last week's Herald reported plans to honor the veterans; Cowan's picture was unavailable last week. Included in the group will be three sets of brothers – Jack and Bill Cowan, Henry and Lloyd Buchanan, and Jim and Glenn Ward. Diplomas will be awarded posthumously to Vernon Haskett, who died Monday, Charles McConnell and Marshall Sutton. Rounding out the 18 will be Don Ashe, Dan Buchanan, Clayton Deitz, Lyle Hall, Don Hill, Frank Moore, Hazen Pangle and R.O. Vance. For more information about the event, call Frankie Harris at 586-2311.
