102804derekhodgesDEREK HODGES is The Sylva Herald's new reporter. A Mars Hill graduate and editor of his campus newspaper, Derek is not a stranger to Jackson County. During a six-month internship with the Biblical Recorder, he helped cover the local Tuckaseigee Baptist Association. The son of Bobby and Becky Hodges, who both work for the U.S. Post Office in Morganton, Derek said he sought a job here because he wanted to work for a community newspaper and prefers life in a small town.
