EDC to offer scholarships for Leadership Jackson
By Rose Hooper
The Economic Development Commission of Jackson County will offer two partial scholarships to attend Leadership Jackson 2005 Institute.
During their Aug. 16 board meeting, EDC members agreed to fund two $175 scholarships towards the $350 tuition.
Funding two half scholarships rather than a full tuition would mean more to the recipients, EDC members agreed.
That way the recipients are investing in the program, said EDC coordinator Tamera Crisp.
Along with an application for the institute, those applying for a scholarship should attach a separate sheet describing their skills, talents, aptitudes and why they are interested in leading Jackson County.
Applications are available at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the EDC office, Southwestern Community College, or by calling 631-2260 or 586-2155.
The 13-day course is designed by community leaders to energize, inform, motivate and connect people with issues facing Jackson County.
