July 4th fireworks, downtown Sylva, NC The Fourth of July celebration in downtown Sylva Tuesday evening drew the largest crowd ever, town officials said.

Crowd estimates hit a high of 10,000 as the Jackson County Recreation and Parks Department-sponsored fireworks took to the sky at about 9:30 p.m. Entertainers during the event included Smoky Mountain Drum'n Bass and Willing Servants from Jackson County and Southernbourne of Asheville.
