Walking for cancer cure
Participation in last week’s Relay For Life tripled from years past, according to Josh Pierce, Jackson County representative for the American Cancer Society. “We especially noticed an increase in youth participation this year, from school groups to scouting organizations,” Pierce said. More than 1,500 luminairies, in honor of cancer survivors and in memory of those who died from cancer, lined the track at the Jackson County Recreation Complex and were lit shortly after dark Friday (May 14). – Herald photo by Rose Hooper |
