Street repairs - N.C. Department of Transportation personnel were in Sylva several days during the past week repairing deep cracks found along Main Street. Crews had to dig all the way down to the dirt and fill the affected areas with stone to repair the problems, which were caused by settling and the deterioration of Main Street's original concrete pavement, said Jonathan Woodard, DOT maintenance engineer.
