Beautifying Sylva

Sylva Garden Club members Joan McNeill, left, and Martha Chovan, were among those who spent the morning of March 25  working on the plantings at Bicentennial Park near the old Courthouse on Keener Street. Jackson County maintenance personnel helped with heavier tasks. A special project of the Garden Club, Bicentennial Park is a peaceful oasis located just two blocks from the Jackson County Public Library and Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. The Garden Club will next meet Tuesday, April 6, at 9:30 a.m. in the Smoky Mountain High School horticultural classroom. The meeting will include a work session to pot and prepare the herbs and perennials the club will sell during the Saturday, April 24, Greening Up the Mountains festival in downtown Sylva.
