"We're so close," Coach Mark Taylor said. "We just needed a key hit here and there. The effort was good everywhere. We've got to make our own breaks. We're just going to keep plugging and get after it."

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when a one-out error opened the door for the Lady Mounties. Morgan Mills followed with a single, and Rachel Frady drove in the run with an infield out.

Two errors allowed Tuscola to score again in the sixth and take a 2-0 lead.

SM got on the board in the seventh. Brandi Farmer was hit by a pitch and scored on Duvall's double. The Lady Mustangs had the tying run on third with one out but failed to cash in.

In addition to her strong pitching, Duvall was two of three at the plate.

Mills went two of three for Tuscola.

The Lady Mountaineer JVs won 11-1.
