Smoky Mountain High senior LeAnne Fowlkes, center, displays the award-winning photograph she took as part of her senior project. The picture, which Fowlkes took in Washington, D.C., last November, won two regional Scholastic Art Awards and is currently on display in New York City. If Fowlkes is a winner in national competition, her photo will be displayed this summer in the nation's capital. With Fowlkes are, from left, local artist Mimi Kurtin, Fowlkes' senior project mentor; SMHS art teachers Pat Kimbrell and Ray Menze; and SMHS English teacher Pam Preston, who directed Fowlkes' project.
