LULU'S ON MAIN will offer its annual Mardi Gras features for lunch and dinner Tuesday, Feb. 24, through Saturday, Feb. 28. Cajun and Creole dishes will include gumbo, jambalaya and etouffee.
THE REV. STEVE WEBB and the Zion Hill Baptist church congregation sent us a note expressing their thanks to the Rev. Clifford Parker and his church for helping with the benefit for Jenni Woody. More than $2,000 was collected to help with Jenni's medical expenses.
JEFF BRYSON of Sylva has been awarded Allison Outdoor Advertising's Eagle Award for outstanding sales during 2003. The award was presented last month. Bryson joined Allison's in 1996 and covers the Jackson and Swain county markets as well as the Gatlinburg, Tenn., area.
EVAN RODDENBERRY, a Sylva native and son of Lt. Col. and Mrs. Dave Roddenberry of Vass and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Painter of Sylva, was recently selected to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Defense, Intelligence and Diplomacy Feb. 17-22 in Washington, D.C. Having demonstrated academic achievement and an interest in a career related to national security, Roddenberry will join approximately 400 outstanding high school juniors and seniors from across the U.S. at the forum. Roddenberry is a senior at Union Pine High School.
CELEBRATIONS, along with Merle Norman Cosmetics, is sponsoring Bridal Expo 2004 Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Oaks. The free event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features fashion shows at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. More than 20 vendors serving wedding needs will have booths.
